Getting Ahead with ProMatch and CONNECT
A career-changer in December 2011, Stacy Pang received her MBA and finished the last of her successful internships in high tech marketing. Since hiring is limited in tough economic times, Stacy’s employer was unable to offer her a permanent position. Stacy then spent 7 months searching for a permanent marketing position. Although Stacy has over 9 years of engineering and marketing experience at Fortune 500 companies, she lacked the depth of marketing experience her competitors had.
A friend referred Stacy to the CONNECT Job Seeker Center as well as the ProMatch program in Silicon Valley, which is funded jointly by both EDD and NOVA. Over the course of five months, Stacy took workshops and classes at NOVA and ProMatch, took on a leadership role with ProMatch, and eventually led interviewing workshops. By learning and volunteering alongside other highly educated, experienced Silicon Valley professionals, Stacy regained her confidence and further developed her networking and interviewing skills.
In January 2013, Stacy accepted an offer for a permanent position as a solutions marketing manager at Dell Wyse, a rapidly growing Dell business unit. Although she still very new there, the company, team culture, and role are a very good fit so far. Stacy is very grateful for the help she received and highly recommends ProMatch and the CONNECT Center to all Bay Area job seekers. The ProMatch and CONNECT programs not only enabled Stacy to reach her goal of obtaining a job, but has also set her up for future success. The relationships that these programs helped Stacy foster with experienced mentors will be invaluable throughout her career and would have been impossible to create without the guidance she received from the ProMatch and CONNECT programs.
